Legal Capability Seminar Report

Published: 21 September 2011

On 27th June 2011, Consumer Focus Scotland held a seminar on legal capability. This was attended by 31 delegates, and included speakers from a variety of organisations, including the Scottish Government, the Public Legal Education Network in England and Wales (Plenet), Health Rights Information Scotland, Money Advice Service, Learning and Teaching Scotland and Consumer Focus Scotland. The purpose of the seminar was to increase understanding of ‘legal capability’ amongst stakeholders, and to discuss what needs to be done to develop this area in Scotland, focusing on short term (1 to 2 years) and medium term (3 to 5 years) priorities.  A clear outcome from the discussion at the seminar was the need to form a working group to consider how a strategic approach to legal capability might be taken forward in Scotland. We are now in the process of setting up this working group.  A report of this seminar can be viewed by clicking on the download button below.
