Consumer Focus Scotland (CFS) welcomes the opportunity to respond to the consultation on a Strategy for the Private Rented Sector. Our organisation has a long history of involvement in housing policy development. The Scottish Consumer Council, one of our predecessor organisations, was a member of the Housing Improvement Task Force, and chaired the subgroup „Landlords renting property in the private sector (and the interests of tenants who occupy these properties)‟. More recently Consumer Focus Scotland has had involvement in a number of Scottish Government working groups including the Private Rented Sector Strategy Group, the Ministerial Sounding Board on the Housing (Scotland) Bill, the Tenancy Deposit Working Group, the Landlord Accreditation Scotland Advisory Group, the Private Rented Housing (Scotland) Act 2011 Implementation Working Group and the Housing Policy Advisory Group.
