Switchthenation.com is the latest service to sign up to Consumer Focus’ Confidence Code – the accreditation scheme that ensures energy price comparison sites are displaying accurate, up-to-date information.
Switchthenation.com went live this week and is the fourteenth site to sign up to the Code.
To gain accreditation the site has had to pass a stringent audit of their services and like all other accredited sites, will be subject to regular scrutiny to ensure the consumer information they provide is accurate and comprehensive.
Accredited sites must display all the deals on the market, even those they do not make any commission on. The site will also be independently audited at least once a year to make sure it continues to meet the high standards set by the Confidence Code.
Jenni Lucas, Confidence Code Manager at Consumer Focus said: ‘Consumers shopping around for an energy deal can be daunted by the range and complexity of choices available. The Code is designed to help make the process easier, more reliable and provide reassurance for consumers.’
Brian Cullen, Managing Director for switchthenation.com said “We would like to thank Consumer Focus and the energy companies for their support. Our main objective is to provide a reliable source of information, education, accurate calculations and the best possible service to all of our clients throughout the UK.”
Consumer Focus believes that to protect consumers in other sectors such as insurance and financial services regulators and consumer bodies should examine the Confidence Code model to see how it could be applied to their industries.
