Consumer Focus response to OFT rogue doorstep traders campaign

Supporting the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) campaign against rogue doorstep traders, Philip Cullum, deputy chief executive at Consumer Focus said:  

“Being in your own home doesn’t mean you’re safe from unscrupulous salesmen. Persuasive crooks can make it hard for people to turn down what might sound like a great deal. That’s why Consumer Focus welcomes the OFT’s campaign to stop consumers being cheated this summer. 

“The golden rule is never sign anything on your doorstep, unless you have done your research and are positive it is the right thing to do. Proper businesses will give you the time to think and allow you to check examples of their work, particularly where large sums of money are involved.”
