Green Energy UK

Green Energy UK has two green electricity tariffs:

Pale Green is a green tariff that matches 100% of the electricity you use with a supply of power from good quality combined heat and power (CHP) accredited generators back into the electricity grid.

Deep Green is a green source tariff that matches 100% of the electricity you use with a supply of renewable power (that qualifies under the Renewables Obligation) back into the electricity grid. It costs between on average around a £1 a week more than your regional electricity supplier depending on the region.

The first 100,000 customers of either tariff will be given the option to receive shares in Green Energy if they remain a customer for three years.

Green Energy UK’s overall electricity fuel mix in 2007-08 included 68% of electricity supplied from CHP generators and 32% from renewable sources. Green Energy UK has informed Consumer Focus that 95% of the power purchase agreements they have entered into are with renewable generators that didn’t exist when the company was formed in 2001.
